The colour of 2020 - Classic Blue (19-4052 to be exact).
Each year the "magic" colour is announced by the Pantone Colour Institute who are the experts behind not only the Pantone Colour of the year but also selecting the top seasonal runway colours, forecasting global colour trends, and advising companies on colour for product and brand visual identity across the globe. So when they release the colour of the year the interiors industry listen.
Pantone’s Colour of the Year influences product development and purchasing decisions in multiple industries, including fashion, home furnishings, industrial design, as well as product packaging and graphic design.
The process on choosing the The Pantone Colour of the Year is very intensive and the experts research world colour influences from all facets of life from the entertaiment industry, travel and art right through to social economical conditions. It sometimes also stems from technology and up coming events that draw worldwide attention. Amazing to think that one colour has had so much time spent on it! And then so much money invested in it! Quite a bit of pressure for a colour.
So what does Classic Blue mean. Pantone.com have described it as;
A timeless and enduring blue hue, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue is elegant in its simplicity. Suggestive of the sky at dusk, the reassuring qualities of the thought-provoking PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue highlight our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era. So this year you will see blue hues throughout all interior styles. We are a big fan of blue already here at Cranmore Home & Co, as we feel it goes with every colour and design style from wall colour to furniture pieces. It is also a great staple colour for my beloved coastal style - yay!
You will begin to see more homewares and furniture in this block colour or designed with pops of this colour which is exciting. I am sure kitchen cabinetry will continue to include blue as will tiles through the bathrooms and laundries. We love seeing these trends continue and flourish throughout many designer furniture and homeware pieces and can't wait to add more to our collections as they become available.
Here are some of our products which just happen to be similar to the Classic Blue. We will also put together a few collections that bring this colour to life in different rooms, so stay tuned to the Style Files.
