Farmhouse Finds - Homewares & Furniture Finder Edition #1

May 17 2021 – Jayne Graham

I thought I might start a Farmhouse finds - Homewares & Furniture Finder blog each month as we love to showcase new products and collections. So keep an eye out for these blogs as we will delve a little deeper into our brands and collections and pull together ideas for your home.

I'm a mother of 2 teenagers, and spend most of my time running around doing school sport drop off and pick ups whilst running the business so I know how hard it is to actually stop and think about furnishing your home in a way that you would really love to. So I thought I would help with monthly moodboards and a selection of homewares and furniture in Australia that can go together in many different styles and colour palettes. I will put together a little shop the look at the end so you can get some quick links to the products in detail.  I do hope you enjoy the read. If there is ever any particular style or colour palette you would like me to do a piece on, please get in contact and I would be more than happy to!

Starting off this month is - Farmhouse Finds

Farmhouse styling is all about making a home feel cosy and inviting, with a little bit of a rustic approach.  Think warm textured textiles matched with comfy couches and a lovely big soft rug underfoot.  The best thing about this style is that you can add a pop of colour and still make it look effortless or even slightly eclectic.

I must admit I have this style in the original part of our Californian Bungalow and I am a little sucker for Country Style magazine each month, even though I have never lived on a farm. Actually that's a lie, I was born on property in Muswellbrook NSW, but can't really remember the first 5 years of my life! Funny though as I also love coastal and vintage inspired styles .. maybe that's why Cranmore Home & Co features this style of homewares and furniture in Australia so much .. anyway I digress.. back to the reason for the blog - Farmhouse Homewares & Furniture Finds.

With Farmhouse interiors you will find a variety of timber tones throughout the home.  Long timber tables with bench seats or timber wooden dining chairs adding to the rustic feel of a kitchen or dining area. Coffee tables are also a great way to include timber into your space and there are many styles available - round, rectangle, big and small!

Tribe Home Rugs

Lovely textured floor rugs are also a key piece to any Farmhouse styled room. The more texture the better.  Warm tones that work with the rest of your palette are the norm, but floor rugs are also an opportunity to go crazy with colour.  I do tend to go more neutral with my rugs and keep the colour for the cushions and throws as you can change these up at any time.

These new Tribe Home rugs pictured - Husky and The Chalet are just divine!

Leather is another material that you will find consistent in Farmhouse interiors. Leather couches, leather occasional chairs and also sometimes leather bedheads.  Again this is because of the warm tones the leather brings to a room. You can even mix and match your living room chairs with leather and linen, these are two of my favourite materials to combine in seating.

Now talking linen, you can't go past linen bedding for this style! The classic pin striped sheet set mixed up with a winter white duvet cover and light weight woolen or linen throw! Just writing about it wants me to snuggle up in bed. I have the milk and marine stripe duvet cover by Bedtonic on my bed matched with the olive Trellis blanket by Lazybones and I don't want to get out of bed in the mornings! Especially in winter!!

Now lets talk lighting. Long timber dining tables call for long pendant lights and the classic Hampton style, black metal with 3 bulbs is a classic addition to a space.  These pendants will be timeless and not something you would replace for many years.  Drop pendants by the bed are also a look that is popular right now and the cage look is industrial yet farmhouse chic. Table lamps are also an opportunity to go crazy with colour.  There are many options for the bases of lamps that can be classy yet colourful.  Check out our Saigon table lamp in the mood board below, it is one of my personal favourites.

Our Farmhouse collection has many products that you could scroll and scroll and scroll through so I thought as part of these blogs I will put some of my favourites together in to a mood board with quick links to shop the look.

Remember we do also provide a complimentary shop the look service if you are ever needing styling help with a room.
